IMU’s Academic Council (AC) was set up as a consultative body for our Medical, Dental and BioVet programmes.

ABOUT US

Much of the success of the academic and administrative quality of the IMU’s Medical, Dental and BioVet programmes, can be traced to the expert guidance and mentorship of the Academic Council (AC).

Admission requirements, curriculum, assessment, and faculty appointments and development. It also determines the method of transfer of students to partner schools. Their meetings are held annually.

All areas are reviewed and breakout sessions are held to deliberate the future direction of the Medical, Dental and BioVet programmes, taking into consideration the latest trends in the world of Healthcare.

The Academic Council is composed of representatives of each of the partner Medical, Dental and BioVet schools, together with senior members of the academic and administrative staff of the IMU. It is chaired by one of the PMS representatives.

The Remit of The
Academic Council is

To provide advice and recommendations on matters pertaining to the admissions process, to the undergraduate medical and dental curriculum and its delivery, to assessment and to faculty appointments and development, as well as to research and to postgraduate training.

To monitor and help evaluate the implementation of the IMU Medical, Dental and BioVet curriculum, especially that of the first 5 semesters.

To provide advice on the method of and monitor the transfer of students to all the partner Medical, Dental and BioVet schools (PMS, PDS & PVS) including the IMU Clinical/Phase 2 programme.

To monitor student performance at both the IMU and partner schools and to provide regular feedback to the IMU on student progress at all the partner schools.
